    ICDS Department

    Introduction

    The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme, District Cell, Satara, is one of the departments under Zilla Parishad Satara. Through 19 projects, various programs and schemes related to ICDS are implemented in rural areas as per the guidelines of the Central and State Governments.


    Vision and Mission

    • To provide pre-primary education to children aged 3 to 6 years in rural areas.

    • To reduce maternal and child mortality rates.

    • To provide supplementary nutrition.

    • To reduce malnutrition among children aged 3 to 6 years in Anganwadis.

    • To ensure holistic development of children.

    • To undertake construction of Anganwadi buildings.


    Objectives and Functions

    • For the empowerment of girls, the Lek Ladki Yojana has been launched by the State Government through the ICDS Department of Zilla Parishad Satara.

    • A lump-sum LIC benefit is provided to Anganwadi Sevikas, Helpers, and Mini-Sevikas upon retirement, resignation, death, or completion of service.

    • Through Anganwadi Sevikas and Helpers, children aged 3 to 6 years in rural areas are provided services such as immunization, health check-ups, referral services, and nutrition education.

    • Funds for construction and repairs of new Anganwadi buildings are made available through DPC and NABARD.

    • The ICDS department also carries out recruitment and transfer processes.

    Under the Integrated Child Development Services, District Cell, Satara, a total of 19 Rural Child Development Projects are functioning. Through this structure, the ICDS Department carries out its operations across the district.

    Group – A: Lek Ladki Scheme

    As per Government Resolution No. EBAVI-2022/Pr.Kr.251/Ka-6 dated 30 October 2023, the Government of Maharashtra, Women and Child Development Department has launched the Lek Ladki Scheme for the empowerment of girls.

    Objectives of the Scheme:

    1. To encourage the birth of girls and increase the female birth rate.

    2. To promote girls’ education.

    3. To reduce the mortality rate of girls and prevent child marriages.

    4. To reduce malnutrition.

    5. To motivate and ensure that the percentage of out-of-school girls is reduced to zero.


    Group – B: One-time LIC Benefit Scheme

    As per Government Resolution No. EBAVI-2013/Pr.Kr.141/Ka-6 dated 30 April 2014, the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Maharashtra, approved a one-time lump-sum benefit under the LIC scheme for Anganwadi staff (Sevikas, Helpers, Mini-Sevikas) after retirement, resignation, death, or termination of service.

    Objectives of the Scheme:
    To provide financial security to honorarium-based employees of Anganwadis under the LIC scheme with the following benefits (effective from 30/04/2014):

    Resignation / Termination One month’s salary for each completed year of service (maximum ₹1,00,000). Minimum 5 years of service required. One month’s salary for each completed year of service (maximum ₹75,000). Minimum 5 years of service required.
    Death ₹1,00,000 ₹75,000

    Group – C: Anganwadi Construction

    As per Government Resolution No. EBAVI-2020/Pr.Kr.131/Ka-2 dated 31 January 2022, under the Women and Child Empowerment Scheme, a minimum of 3% permanent allocation is ensured under the District Annual Plan (General) for the development of Anganwadi infrastructure.

    Objectives of the Scheme:

    1. Construction of new Anganwadi centers.

    2. Provision of piped water supply to Anganwadi centers.

    3. Provision of electricity to Anganwadi centers.

    4. Modernization of kitchens in Anganwadi centers.

    5. Expansion of existing Anganwadi buildings.

    6. Special repairs of Anganwadi buildings.

    7. Construction of separate waiting rooms for mothers at Anganwadi centers.

    8. Construction of protective boundary walls for Anganwadi centers.

    9. Supply and maintenance of growth monitoring equipment.
